ABOUT US

HISTORY:

The very first day of class for St. John's Lutheran Preschool was on September 5, 1990. On that day, class was held for 14 three year olds with two staff members. By the next school year, classes were added for two year olds and four year olds.

SCHOOL STRUCTURE:

We are a half-day preschool with early and late care available. We now offer preschool classes for Toddlers (18 mos.) through pre-K (age 6) with a staff of fifteen. We serve approximately 150 families. Classes begin after Labor Day and end the week before Memorial Day. We also offer 1 or 2 themed mini camps during the summer months.

FACILITY:
We are located in the lower level of St. John's Lutheran Church. We have five color coordinated classrooms with a security system. The children have access to a full sized gymnasium, fenced-in playground and music and Bible room.

ACTIVITIES:
Aside from regular preschool classes, we include weekly Bible and music classes for our students. On a monthly basis, we offer opportunities for families to participate in a mission outreach project. We also have family events coordinated with the church throughout the school year such as Trunk or Treat and an Easter Egg Hunt.

PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy of Preschool is based upon our belief that a child has the right to a Christian environment that will enhance and encourage growth in all parts of a child's development process. These areas include the moral, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical aspects of each child.

The staff shall meet these needs through our curriculum, daily lessons, and each child's individual learning and developmental needs.

OBJECTIVES

  • To develop the abilities which God has given to each child.

  • To help the child grow spiritually, mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally, thereby helping the child to get along better with others.

  • To provide a curriculum aimed at preparing the child for kindergarten through a program covering the following areas:

Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Physical Development and Health, Fine Arts, Social/Emotional Development, Spirituality.
